iPhone Duo EMI for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months

The 256GB model at ₹2,99,900, example 15%. Apple’s India store said No Cost EMI on the iPhone Duo is on 3- and 6-month tenures only (eligible cards, 11 Oct to 11 Nov 2026), so 9 and 12 months will usually carry interest.

TenureEMITotal interest
3 months₹1,02,476₹7,528
6 months₹52,193₹13,258
9 months₹35,439₹19,051
12 months₹27,068₹24,916

The same ₹2,99,900 over 6, 12, 18 or 24 months

Still at 15%, only the term changes. Over 6 months the EMI is ₹52,193 and total interest is ₹13,258. Over 12 months, ₹27,068 and ₹24,916. Over 18 months, ₹18,709 and ₹36,862. Over 24 months, ₹14,541 and ₹49,084.

Going from 6 months to 12 lowers the EMI by ₹25,125 a month and adds ₹11,658 of interest. Going from 12 months to 24 lowers the EMI by ₹12,527 a month but adds ₹24,168 of interest. A phone loses value while the EMI runs, so a long term raises the chance you still owe money when you want to upgrade.

What a ₹1 lakh retailer premium costs on EMI

First-week stock was pre-booked, and some retailers were reported asking up to ₹1 lakh over list. Paying ₹3,99,900 instead of ₹2,99,900, at the same example 15% over 12 months, raises the EMI by ₹9,026 a month. It adds ₹8,312 of interest, so you pay ₹1,08,312 more in total. The premium is a reported example, not a quote.

Apple’s own store was showing later delivery dates for fresh orders. Waiting for list-price stock avoids the premium and the extra interest on it.

Where the first EMI goes, and saving first

In the first month, ₹3,749 of the ₹27,068 is interest and ₹23,319 reduces the loan. Across the 12 months you pay ₹3,24,816. Halfway through, after 6 months, you still owe ₹1,55,533.

Setting aside ₹2,99,900 over 12 months takes ₹24,992 a month, before any interest the savings earn. The 12-month EMI is ₹27,068, so buying now on EMI costs ₹2,076 more each month.

No-cost EMI, card limits and tax

“No-cost EMI” usually means a seller discount covers the interest. 18% GST on that interest and any processing fee are still yours to pay. On the ₹2,99,900 example over 12 months at 15%, the interest is ₹24,916 and the GST on it is ₹4,485, before any fee. The no-cost EMI guide works through this.

Card EMI blocks your credit limit until each instalment clears. A ₹3 lakh purchase can use most of a card’s limit. Interest on a phone bought for personal use is not tax-deductible for a salaried person, so the EMI above is the whole borrowing cost.
