Your take-home stays on this screen. It is not sent or saved.
The Renault Duster strong hybrid starts at ₹16,99,000 ex-showroom. With an example 20% paid down, the ₹13,59,200 loan at 9% over 5 years costs ₹28,215 a month. You repay ₹16,92,900, of which ₹3,33,700 is interest. That EMI needs about ₹56,430 of take-home where total EMIs may reach 50% of income, or ₹70,538 at 40%. The rate and the down payment are example inputs.
EMI on each Duster hybrid trim
Renault launched the Duster strong hybrid on 17 October 2026 in three trims: Evolution at ₹16,99,000, Techno at ₹18,99,000 and Emotion at ₹19,49,000, all ex-showroom. Renault calls these introductory prices, for deliveries until 31 December 2026. Bookings are ₹21,000 and deliveries start in November.
Each row assumes you pay 20% of the ex-showroom price yourself and borrow the other 80% at 9% for 5 years. Both are example inputs, not a lender’s offer. Registration, road tax and insurance are added on top and differ from state to state, so the loan on your on-road price may be larger.
| Trim (ex-showroom) | Example loan | EMI | Total interest | Take-home at 50% FOIR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evolution (₹16,99,000) | ₹13,59,200 | ₹28,215 | ₹3,33,700 | ₹56,430 |
| Techno (₹18,99,000) | ₹15,19,200 | ₹31,536 | ₹3,72,960 | ₹63,072 |
| Emotion (₹19,49,000) | ₹15,59,200 | ₹32,366 | ₹3,82,760 | ₹64,732 |
How the down payment changes the EMI
Take the Evolution trim at ₹16,99,000, still at 9% for 5 years. Pay 10% down, which is ₹1,69,900, and the ₹15,29,100 loan costs ₹31,742 a month with ₹3,75,420 of interest. Pay 20%, or ₹3,39,800, and the ₹13,59,200 loan costs ₹28,215 with ₹3,33,700 of interest. Pay 30%, or ₹5,09,700, and the ₹11,89,300 loan costs ₹24,688 with ₹2,91,980 of interest.
So moving from 10% down to 30% down cuts the EMI by ₹7,054 a month and saves ₹83,440 of interest. The cash for the down payment is on top of the on-road charges, which you also pay at delivery.
Three, four, five or seven years on the ₹13,59,200 loan
Same loan, same 9% rate, only the term changing. Over 3 years the EMI is ₹43,222 and the interest ₹1,96,792. Over 4 years, ₹33,824 and ₹2,64,352. Over 5 years, ₹28,215 and ₹3,33,700. Over 7 years, ₹21,868 and ₹4,77,712.
Moving from 5 years to 7 drops the EMI by ₹6,347 a month but costs ₹1,44,012 more in interest. Moving from 5 years to 4 raises the EMI by ₹5,609 and saves ₹69,348. A car is worth less every year, so on a long term the balance can stay above its resale value for a while.
What the first year of payments does
In month one, ₹10,194 of the ₹28,215 is interest and ₹18,021 goes to the loan itself. Over the first 12 months you pay ₹3,38,580 and the balance comes down by ₹2,25,386. After 30 months, halfway, you still owe ₹7,55,459.
What the EMI does not include
The EMI is only the loan. Fuel, the yearly insurance renewal, servicing and parking come out of the same salary. Renault quotes an ARAI-certified 29 km per litre for the hybrid; what you get on your own roads will differ, so use your own driving to estimate fuel.
For a salaried person, interest on a car loan for personal use is not tax-deductible, so nothing comes back at tax time. Many car loans carry a fixed rate, and a fixed-rate loan can have a prepayment or foreclosure charge. Read the agreement before you plan to close it early.
For one fixed amount worked through several rates and terms, see the ₹10 lakh car loan guide. For how this EMI fits next to loans you already pay, see the guide on how much EMI you can afford.
