The short answer

iPhone 16 ki EMI: Apple India lists the 128GB iPhone 16 at ₹89,900 (apple.com/in, checked 2 Nov 2026). At an example 15% over 12 months, with no down payment, the EMI is ₹8,114 a month. On an example ₹75,000 iPhone 16 purchase at 15% over 12 months, the EMI is ₹6,769 a month. Over the term you repay ₹81,228, of which ₹6,228 is interest. That EMI needs about ₹13,538 of take-home where total EMIs may reach 50% of income, or ₹16,923 at 40%. Use the price and rate at checkout.

EMI and salary needed by example sale price

Festival sale listings for the iPhone 16 (128GB) have sat in a band around ₹72,000–₹77,000 after coupons, depending on the day and the offer stack. Those are example sale prices, not a quote. The table below uses round purchase amounts as example inputs at 15% for 12 months — a mid case at ₹75,000, with nearby amounts for a lower or higher checkout total.

At 15% over 12 months: ₹70,000 costs ₹6,318 a month and ₹5,816 of interest, needing about ₹12,636 take-home at 50% FOIR. ₹75,000 costs ₹6,769 and ₹6,228, needing about ₹13,538. ₹80,000 costs ₹7,221 and ₹6,652, needing about ₹14,442. ₹90,000 costs ₹8,123 and ₹7,476, needing about ₹16,246. The rate and FOIR share are examples, not a quote or a rule.

iPhone 16 down payment: how much to pay upfront

Card EMI and no-cost EMI usually put the full price on EMI, so no down payment is needed. Paying part upfront still cuts the EMI: on Apple’s ₹89,900 price at an example 15% for 12 months, every ₹10,000 down lowers the EMI by about ₹900. A store finance plan may ask for some money upfront; check its terms.

On ₹89,900 at the same 15%: 3 months costs ₹30,719 a month and ₹2,257 of interest, 6 months ₹15,646 and ₹3,976, 9 months ₹10,624 and ₹5,716, and 12 months ₹8,114 and ₹7,468. Apple’s India store offered No Cost EMI on the iPhone 16 on 3, 6, 9 and 12 months with eligible cards from 11 Oct to 11 Nov 2026 (shown as from ₹7,492 a month, which is ₹89,900 ÷ 12).

The same ₹75,000 over 6, 9 or 12 months

Still at 15%, only the term changing on ₹75,000: over 6 months the EMI is ₹13,053 and total interest is ₹3,318. Over 9 months, ₹8,863 and ₹4,767. Over 12 months, ₹6,769 and ₹6,228.

Stretching from 6 months to 12 lowers the EMI by ₹6,284 a month and adds ₹2,910 of interest. A phone also loses value while the EMI runs, so a longer term raises the chance you still owe money when you want to upgrade.

Where the first months of EMIs go

In the first month, ₹938 of the ₹6,769 is interest and ₹5,831 reduces the loan. Across the 12 months you pay ₹81,228. Halfway through, after 6 months, you still owe ₹38,895.

No-cost EMI is not the same as free

Festival checkouts often offer “no-cost EMI” on select cards. The interest is usually offset by a seller discount, but 18% GST on that interest and any processing fee are not. On the ₹75,000 example over 12 months at 15%, the interest is ₹6,228 and the GST on it is ₹1,121 — before any fee. Read the no-cost EMI guide before you count the offer as free.

Setting aside ₹75,000 over 12 months takes ₹6,250 a month, before any interest the savings earn. The 12-month EMI on the same amount is ₹6,769, so paying later costs ₹519 more each month — the ₹6,228 of interest spread across the term.

How this differs from the generic no-cost EMI page

The no-cost EMI guide works the GST and fee arithmetic on generic purchase sizes. This page is for the festival iPhone 16 sale: example sale-price bands, the EMI on those amounts, the take-home salary those EMIs need, and a pointer to the no-cost catch. Cross-check the affordability guide for how FOIR fits your other EMIs.

Interest on a phone purchase for personal use is not tax-deductible for a salaried person, so the EMI above is the whole borrowing cost. Card EMI also uses your credit limit until each instalment clears.
