What does a SIP become, at every monthly amount?

Part of: Save & plan

By Vijay Singh Sinhmar · Fintech automation specialist, 8 years in finance · Published 2026-10-15

A SIP's value depends on the amount, the years and a rate nobody knows in advance. At the 10% example rate (illustrative, not a prediction), ₹5,000 a month for 20 years comes to ₹38,28,485 and ₹10,000 a month to ₹76,56,969. The table covers every amount from ₹500 to ₹1,00,000 a month; each amount's own page shows 8% and 12% beside it, and the SIP calculator takes your own rate.

SIP value at every amount and term

Each row is a monthly amount invested at the start of every month and compounded monthly at the 10% example rate. It is illustrative, not a prediction: a steady rate that real markets do not deliver. Tap an amount for its own page with three rates side by side.

Time against amount

At the 10% example rate, ₹5,000 a month for 25 years comes to ₹66,89,452, while ₹10,000 a month for 20 years comes to ₹76,56,969. Years enter the formula as an exponent and the amount only as a multiplier, which is why five extra years closes so much of the gap.

Why example rates

Muktify is not a SEBI-registered adviser and does not supply a rate of return. These pages show labelled example rates so the effect of time and amount is visible; the SIP calculator is where your own assumption goes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the formula for SIP value?

FV = M × ((1 + i)^n − 1) / i × (1 + i), where M is the monthly amount, i the monthly rate and n the number of months — the contribution counted at the start of each month.

Which rate do these tables use?

8%, 10% and 12% a year as examples, illustrative, not a prediction. The hub table shows the middle one; each amount's page shows all three, and the calculator takes your own.

Why does time matter so much in a SIP?

Each year’s growth is applied to the whole balance so far, so the final years add far more than the first. Years enter the formula as an exponent; the amount enters only as a multiplier.

Are these SIP figures guaranteed?

No. They are arithmetic on a steady example rate. Market-linked returns vary from year to year and can be negative, so a real statement will look different.
